KURNOOL: President of the Rayalaseema Hakkula Ikya Vedika T.G. Venkatesh has said they will dash off a letter to Union Minister Sharad Pawar, asking him whether he will support creation of smaller states in Maharastra too with the same zeal he demonstrated for division of Andhra Pradesh. Also, the leader will be questioned whether he will espouse the cause of backwardness in Rayalaseema too. Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said Mr. Pawar would be invited to the Rayalaseema meeting also to support their cause. Mr. Venkatesh said leaders of the Telangana Congress Legislators Forum (TCLF) would be felicitated at the annual conference of the Vedika on August 13, 14 and 15 appreciating their zeal for developing the region. Because of their suggestion, the government decided to announce the Rs. 2,000-crore package. The decision to honour them was also intended to rouse consciousness among Rayalaseema legislators about the backwardness of the region. He said leaders from Nellore and Prakasam districts would be invited besides Mr. Bhattam Srirama Murthy, who highlighted the backwardness of Rayalaseema region. Mr. Venkatesh announced that the Vedika would oppose the implementation of GO No 610, which expatriated employees to the region. No serious decision in this regard would be allowed when TRS leaders were asking for nothing less than separate State. They better solve such problems after forming their own State, he said. Mr. Venkatesh found fault with TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao for the tone and tenor employed to belittle people of other regions in his effort to regain the lost image with people of Telangana. Mr. Venkatesh criticised the TRS president for creating a controversy over the appointment of the Advocate-General who hailed from Rayalaseema.
