Harsh bows out

NEW DELHI: The sixth-seeded Harsh Mankad went down 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 to Paul Baccanello of Australia in the first round of the $50,000 Challenger tennis tournament at Tarzana, California.

Another Indian Davis Cupper in the fray, wild card Rohan Bopanna, who had done well in the Challengers in United Kingdom, lost 4-6, 2-6 to qualifier Kyu Tae Im of Korea in another first round encounter.

Prakash Amritraj pulled out of the doubles with an abdominal strain, but was scheduled to play his singles against qualifier Lesley Joseph of the U.S.
