asked to enforce EPF
C. Bhagat Simha, secretary-general, said in a statement on Tuesday that most of the 240 private engineering colleges in the State, with 15,000 non-teaching staff, were not enforcing the scheme. Hence it had represented the matter to the authorities. The managements could approach the federation if they faced any problem or difficulty in enforcing it, he said.- Staff Reporter
Woman set afire
The woman suffered 80 per cent burns and was admitted to the district headquarters hospital where her condition was stated to be critical, according to the II town Sub-Inspector, E. Narasimha Murty. Suspicion over her character was said to be the reason for the act, he added. The man was arrested. - Correspondent

Rain at some places
Nagarjunasagar received rainfall of 5 cm; Cuddapah, Podili, Proddatur 4 cm each; Nizamabad, Macherla 3 cm each; and Nandyal, Allagadda each 2 cm. The State Met Office forecast that light to moderate rain was likely on Wednesday at a few places in Telangana and Rayalaseema and in the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore. 21 cr. sanctioned for
development works
Also, an amount of Rs 2.5 crores was sanctioned for a bridge across the Kundu river and Rs 6.25 crores for fulfilling the assurances given by the Chief Minister, Y.S.
