PATHANAMTHITTA: The Lions Club of Thiruvalla has reconstructed a Primary Health Centre (PHC) building, which was damaged by tsunami was last year, at Arattupuzha in Alappuzha district. In a statement here today, the club said the work on the Rs.9-lakh PHC project has been completed and the key of the new building had been handed over to the Arattupuzha grama panchayat president. Former governor of the club, James K. Philip, said that the tsunami relief project of the organisation was launched by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy a few months ago. He said that the organisation had also distributed schoolbags and umbrellas to 1,000 students in Azheeckal, near Karunagappally, another tsunami-hit coastal village. A modern drinking water distribution system has also been set up at the Government Upper Primary School at Azheeckal, he added. Mr.James said that 265 students had benefited from the club's educational assistance scheme
