JAIPUR: Tension prevailed on Tuesday in Sriganganagar district even as farmers tried to hold demonstrations protesting against the previous day's police lathi-charge in Gharsana and Rawla towns. Jawans of the Special Task Force and the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary held flag marches in the area. The district administration which kept a close vigil over the day's developments ordered imposition of curfew in Gharsana and Rawla from 8 p.m. The District Collector, Kunji Lal Meena, said the move was a precautionary measure as the farmers were reportedly preparing to intensify their agitation. Around 500 workers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) tried to hold a demonstration in Sriganganagar against the previous day's police lathi-charge on the farmers of the Indira Gandhi Canal Project Phase I. In Rawla the mobs reportedly damaged a culvert.
