RAJAHMUNDRY: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited, under its Socio-Economic Development (SED) programme, came forward to renovate a drinking water tank in Jaggarajupeta village in Challapalli panchayat in Amalapuram constituency. The Asset Manager A.A. Khan on Tuesday handed over a cheque for Rs.2 lakhs to the Sarpanch A. Satyanarayana to this effect. He also distributed three cents of land for construction of a school building in the same village and furniture to another school near Gopavaram.
Community service
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Khan said that under its corporate social responsibility, the ONGC is donating 0.75 per cent of its net profit every year for SED. He said that the corporation had spent Rs.3.57 crores during the last nine years on SED in its operational areas, which includes community welfare, infrastructure development, health and education. He said that in Konaseema area alone, the ONGC had spent Rs.1.07 crores on various development activities.
