`Polam Badi' launched in two mandals

RAJAHMUNDRY: The Agriculture Department has launched the second phase of `Polam Badi' in two mandals, Kadiam and Rajahanagaram, in Rajahmundry sub-division on Tuesday. The success of `Polam Badi' -- aimed at empowering farmers with integrated crop management expertise -- in last rabi season in Torredu has led the agriculture officers to implement it in other areas also.

The programme is also aimed at encouraging farmers a select group of farmers learn about balancing production with economic and environmental considerations with the help of agriculture officers.

Assistant director G. Anjaneya Reddy said that every 15th day in this kharif season, officers would go to Torredu, Rajavolu and other villages and explain to farmers about transplantation techniques.
