A file photo of Aishwarya Rai MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has claimed that the voice in the purported taped conversation between her and Salman Khan ``was not hers,'' according to sources involved in the investigation, five days after the tapes became public. ``The actress has said that the voice on the tapes was not hers,'' senior officials involved in the probe told UNI on Monday night. She also does not remember having had any such conversation with Salman, when the two had a close friendship in 2001, they added. The former Miss World cooperated with the sleuths of the Crime Branch when they went to her residence to record her voice for matching it with the one on the tapes earlier in the day. On Sunday, the Crime Branch had taken the voice sample of the actor, who was also questioned for three hours. In the tapes, made public by an English daily on July 14 and played by TV channels, the `Salman voice' had bragged about his underworld connections and demanded that the actress perform in an entertainment show for fugitive gangster Abu Salem. The police are now probing the matter. UNI
