KC Canal reopened

KURNOOL: The KC canal was reopened on Tuesday with an initial release of 1,500 cusecs. The release would be enhanced to 2,000 cusecs by Wednesday. Water was impounded up to 291.8 metres, accounting for a storage of 1.152 tmcft while around 40,000 cusecs was discharged into the river.

The discharge into the river varied at different times of the day. It was around 66,000 cusecs in the early hours, 33,000 cusecs around noon and 44,125 cusecs in the evening. Meanwhile, the flow in the river at Mantralayam in the upper reaches of Sunkesula was 25,000 cusecs.

The flood is likely to sustain for a few more days.

The level in the Srisailam reservoir rose to 805.20 ft accounting for a storage of 53.329 tmcft.

The inflow was around 60,000 cusecs with 50 per cent of it being from the Tungabhadra river.

The level in the Tungabhadra dam at Hospet rose to 1613.67 ft with a storage of 47.324 tmcft. The inflow into the Tungabhadra reservoir was 21,022 cusecs.
