Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Some of the best brains in the corporate world were competing with one other and the best among them won.

Ajay Kasargod and Debadatta Das from WYSE Technology, Bangalore, won the city finals of Tata Crucible-The Business Quiz 2005, held at St. John's Auditorium on Sunday.

In this "winner takes all" quiz, the two, in a hard-fought final with their sharp skills and ready answers, toppled other teams. They collected a cash prize of Rs. 60,000 plus prizes from Titan, gift vouchers from Westside and books from the Tata Group. Romit Chaterji, Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, Tata Services Ltd., was the chief guest.

The six finalists, who contested the regional finals, were from Arvind Industries, Image Equity, LOWE, Iflex Solutions, Enventure Technologies and WYSE. Ajay Kasargod was declared "Quizzer of The Day".

The level of competition was challenging and the format made it interesting. Quizmaster Giri (Pickbrain) Balasubramaniam with his interactive style had the audience on the edge of their seat and kept the excitement going. Teams from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala participated in the Bangalore finals. As of now, 192 teams have participated in 27 cities where the event was held, the organisers said. Having achieved the first milestone, WYSE Technology team will now battle it out with seven other teams at the national finals at Hotel Taj Mahal Palace and Tower in Mumbai. If it makes it to the national finals, the WYSE Technology team can win a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs and a kitty of exciting gifts.
