Robber caught while fleeing
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
The Commercial Street Police on Monday nabbed Syed Mansoor (24), who was allegedly escaping with Rs. 49,000 cash, a mobile phone and a cheque book, robbed from a software engineer on Church Street.
The accused was arrested at Shivajinagar bus station, a few minutes after the alleged robbery.
According to police, two miscreants threatened V.R. Ramachandran near a bank on Church Street and took away a bag containing cash from him. They later boarded a BMTC bus on St. Mark's Road , which was proceeding to Shivajinagar.
A head constable from Ulsoor police station, Ramesh, who noticed this from a distance, immediately alerted the police control room, which in turn informed the Commercial Street police.
A beat constable at the Shivajinagar bus station zeroed in on the bus.
When the accused tried to escape by showing his knife, two defence personnel helped the constable overpower the accused.
