BANGALORE: For the first time, Bangalore University has introduced an online examination system starting with five correspondence courses for Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR). The examinations began on Monday in three centres, including Bangalore, Raichur and Basti in Uttar Pradesh. The examinations were for the postgraduate diploma, diploma and three certificate courses in CBR, a field attached to philanthropy. In all, 175 students appeared for the examination, where they had to answer objective type questions on the computer screen. The screens flashed their application forms with photographs to confirm the identity of students. The results were ready by the end of the day. The university did not require tabulators, valuators of custodians. University officials said from next year, web cams would be set up in the examination halls to boost the security further. With the success of the online system, the varsity proposed to extend it to other correspondence courses in the future.
Diploma in Sanskrit
The University Syndicate on Tuesday approved a one-year diploma programme in Sanskrit to be conducted by the University's Department of Sanskrit. Students who have passed their qualifying examination with Sanskrit as one of the languages and those who have cleared the Prathama examination are eligible to apply for the course.
