MADURAI: The Collector, D. Raajendiran, gave away welfare assistance amounting to Rs.15,200 each to four girls under the Girl Child Protection Scheme of the Social Welfare Department.
Presiding over a mass contact programme at Nayakanpatti near here recently, Mr. Raajendiran distributed sewing machines worth Rs.2,100 each to two persons on the occasion. Financial assistance under the Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme was given to a person.
Speaking at the function, Mr. Raajendiran said the administration initiated appropriate action on 216 petitions received from members of the public recently.
Accordingly, old age pension orders were issued to 160 persons, patta transfer orders given to 116 persons, patta passbooks distributed to 26 persons, free house-site pattas granted to 36 persons and welfare assistance provided through the Agriculture department was disbursed to five persons.
