HUBLI: Colleges in Hubli and Dharwad remained closed on Wednesday in response to a bandh called by the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) against the introduction of the semester system at the graduation level by Karnatak University. Members of the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad took out a motorcycle rally in Hubli against the semester system. They alleged that the Vice-Chancellor wants to introduce the semester system in a hurry without taking requisite steps. They said the move to introduce the semester system should be put off till infrastructure is created. While students of some colleges boycotted classes, the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad members forced students of a few institutions to participate in the protest. The ABVP has called for a Karnatak University bandh on Thursday.
