THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to give the Thirunakkara ground in the heart of Kottayam town to the municipality on lease for a period of 99 years. Briefing presspersons about the decisions of a meeting of the Cabinet, Mr. Chandy said the rate of lease would be one per cent of the market value. The municipality will be asked to retain the ground as an open space. Underground construction, however, will be allowed. Kasaragode municipality too got a similar gift. It will get the Palippadampu ground for constructing a mini-stadium. The conditions are the same as in the first case. Mr. Chandy said the Cabinet also decided to give its `no-objection certificate' to four institutions to start B.Pharm course. The institutions are: Sree Sankara National Institute of Education, Parassala; the Guru Group, Karukachal; and the units of the Indus Education Trust at Vythiri and Peruvayal.
