HUBLI: Lawyers in Dharwad on Wednesday decided to organise a `Bangalore chalo' on Thursday while their counterparts in Hubli boycotted the court proceedings and burnt the effigy of the Law Minister, H.K. Patil, and demanded that he be dropped from the Cabinet. The Hubli lawyers' allegation was that Mr. Patil was bent upon locating the Circuit Bench of the High Court at the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) complex despite the Chief Justice finding it unsuitable. Speaking to presspersons, C.R. Patil, president, Hubli Bar Association, alleged that the Law Minister was taking undue advantage of his office and was trying to safeguard some people with vested interests. The Dharwad lawyers, who have been urging that the proposed Circuit Bench be set up at WALMI premises, at a meeting chaired by B.D. Hiremath, president, Dharwad Bar Association, decided to stage a dharna in Bangalore from Thursday. They adopted a resolution in this regard and took a decision to continue the dharna in Bangalore till the date for laying the foundation stone for the building of the proposed Circuit Bench on WALMI premises was finalised.
