DDA plots `vanish' from site

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: As many as 188 plots of the Delhi Development Authority were found either "not available at site" or occupied by the fodder market at Mangolpuri Phase II in a joint site inspection conducted by DDA's field staff and representatives of the Delhi State Industrial Development Corporation.

Acting on this astonishing fact, the Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi, B.L. Joshi, ordered a probe into the matter on Tuesday.

While a report has been sought on the matter within a month, the issue created quite a flutter at the DDA meeting. It was pointed out that these plots lying vacant in DDA's developed industrial areas were meant to the utilised for relocation of industries from non-conforming areas among eligible industries.

Earlier, it had also been decided that all the vacant plots available with DDA would be offered to Delhi Government for their utilisation.

A survey had been conducted and 798 plots of various sizes were located in all industrial schemes of DDA excluding plots under encroachment and under litigation and a list of 798 plots of various sizes was given to DSIDC subject to payment of premium on property development rates. The list was scrutinised by DSIDC and discrepancies in respect of 188 plots were pointed out.

However, the joint inspection revealed that the plots were either not available at site or had been gobbled up by the fodder market at Mangolpuri Phase II.
