dated July 22, 1955: PM's stand hailed

Mr. N.C. Chatterjee, MP and President of the All-India Hindu Mahasabha, has come out in support of Prime Minister Nehru's stand that "Goa is an integral part of India and must come to her." Mr. Chatterjee, who is a member of the all-party parliamentary committee for Goa, told a press conference in London on July 19 that the freedom of India could not be complete unless and until all foreign pockets were liberated and merged in the Indian Union. Denying that the Goa issue was a religious one, he said there was no point in linking Portuguese domination of Goa with the preservation of Christian religion.
