Lanterns as signals

NOVEL PROTEST: Activists of Janapaksham directing motorists.

These days, people and organisations have begun resorting to novel ways to register their protest.

Vytilla junction was witness to one such agitation on Wednesday evening. Fed up with the inaction of Governmental agencies in repairing damaged signal lights in the junction, activists of Janapaksham, an NGO, decided to guide motorists.

They descended on the spot with kerosene lanterns covered in red and green paper, and began directing motorists. The policemen on duty could only stand and stare as the volunteers continued to direct motorists for well over an hour. The message was clear - the Smart City project may come up in Kochi, but the story is still the same".
