GV's preview theatre now has a new owner
S.R. Ashok Kumar
CHENNAI:
Late G. Venkateswaran's G.V. Films was the first production company in the region to go public.
After his demise, his first company, Sujatha Films, ran up an income-tax arrears of Rs. 19 crores.
The I-T department recently auctioned his Good Luck preview theatre at Nungambakkam.
The property was bought by director Priyadarshan for Rs. 2.01 crores.
The theatre was re-christened `Four Frames Sound theatre'.
Mr. Priyadharsan has directed more than 50 films in Malayalam and worked in other language movies.
The director says he had been on the lookout for a good preview theatre.
"I have a company named `Four Frames' which has all post-production facilities in one place. When the films are ready I would like to screen them in my own theatre. I am going to upgrade the facilities in the theatre and ensure that it continues to cater to the film fraternity."
