TECHNOLOGY RESOURCE: Sriram, founder and president of Launchpad Ventures. Photo: S.R. Raghunathan
CHENNAI: It is not without reason that Sriram, founder and president of Launchpad Ventures, has named the upcoming facility of the company here `Knowledge House.' It aptly describes the nearly 75-year-old edifice, which has played host to luminaries from different walks of life, including the legendary singer M.S. Subbulakshmi. It is now shaping up to become an important address for corporates. But the notes to be rendered by Launchpad Ventures will be different, modern, in tune with the growing requirements of the companies for training their human resources. Describing his firm as a knowledge and technology resources company, Mr. Sriram says it has an exclusive partnership in India with Avraham Y. Goldratt Institute (AGI), an organisation engaged in improving the bottom line of enterprises globally through the Theory of Constraints. Experts from AGI will deliver two-day programmes comprising interactive sessions, case studies and group discussions. Apart from the tie-up, another key differentiator for Launchpad Ventures is its plan to get experts in various fields, starting with Jussipekka Leiwo, globally renowned information technology security expert, to address a seminar on August 6 and 7 here on `IT security and assurance in IT development.' Some of the experts lined up include Martin Cooper, inventor of mobile phones, and Bjarne Stroustrup, creator of C++ programming language. According to Mr. Sriram, an IT security expert who founded EAP Global and subsequently divested it to Sify, Launchpad Ventures will conduct knowledge events in areas such as technology, management and human resources and on protection, enforcement and audit of Intellectual Property. The state-of-the-art facility on nearly an acre, getting ready on Kasturirangan Road, will also hold classes in foreign languages Spanish, Dutch, Italian and Mandarin. "The courses will also have cultural orientation programme in our open-to-air theatre," says Mr. Sriram. Several organisations, including a leading private bank, have shown interest in outsourcing their training requirement to the company, he said. Details about the programmes are available at www.launchpad.in
