KURNOOL: Charges have been framed against the medical staff of Government General Hospital here for allegedly causing death of a patient by carrying out transfusion of mismatched blood. The doctors in charge of unit III of gynaecology ward in the hospital will face the charges under section 304 A of IPC. A patient, Govindamma of Pudicharla in Orvakal mandal of Kurnool district, who underwent hysterectomy a week ago, died on Wednesday after receiving mismatched blood. As the blood pressure of the patient shot up after the surgery on July 13, she was advised blood transfusion. A probationary nurse collected the blood bag from the blood bank and administered to her. The patient developed complications after a few hours as she received the `wrong' blood.
