Train service from today

Union Minister R. Velu to flag off inaugural run

MANGALORE: The stage is set for the inauguration of the train service between Mangalore and Subramanya Road with the Union Minister of State for Railways, R. Velu, to flag off the inaugural run between Kabaka Puttur and Subramanya Road on Friday. The South-Western Railway authorities have released the timetable for the new schedule to Subramanya Road.

Train No. 651 will leave Mangalore at 10.30 a.m. and arrive at Subramanya Road at 12.50 p.m. It will stop for a minute each at Kankanady at 10.40 a.m., Farangipete at 10.53 a.m., Bantwal at 11.06 a.m., Kalladka at 11.16 a.m., Neralakatte at 11.24 a.m., Kabaka Puttur at 11.50 a.m., Narimogaru at 12.02 p.m., Kaniyuru at 12.13 p.m., Yedamangala at 12.20 p.m., Kodimbala at 12.28 p.m. and Bajakere at 12.34 p.m. before arriving at Subramanya.

On its return journey, Train No. 652 will leave Subramanya Road at 1.10 p.m. and arrive here at 3.30 p.m. It will halt en route for one minute each at Bajakere at 1.25 p.m., Kodimbala at 1.33 p.m., Yedamangala at 1.40 p.m., Kaniyuru at 1.47 p.m., Narimogaru at 1.57 p.m., Kabaka Puttur at 2.08 p.m., Neralakatte at 2.34 p.m., Kalladka at 2.41 p.m., Bantwal at 2.51 p.m., Farangipete at 3.04 p.m. and Kankanady at 3.17 p.m. before arriving here.

Counter

The Southern-Railway, Palghat Division, will open a special satellite counter at the Mangalore City Corporation building at Lalbagh. The counter will be opened by the Union Minister of State for Railways, R. Velu, on Friday.

D. Om Prakash of Southern Railway told The Hindu that initially, one counter will be opened at the satellite reservation centre, which has provision for two counters. The counter will provide all facilities that are provided by the main railway counters at the Mangalore railway station. The services offered include reservation, onward reservation, cancellation of tickets, refunds and others.
