MANGALORE: Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), formerly known as the Department of Explosives, will hold an awareness programme on safety in the manufacture, storage, transportation and use of ammonia here on Friday. The programme is being held in association with Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd. (MCFL). S.C. Tandon, Associate Vice-President of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd., will inaugurate the programme. A press release from B. Nagaraj, Manager (support services), MCFL, said handlers and end users of ammonia will benefit from the programme. Sarkar, Deputy Controller of Explosives, will present a paper on "Statutory requirements for ammonia storage, use and transport." Ramesh Bhat, head (Process Technology and Engineering), MCFL, will present a paper on "Safety in manufacture of ammonia."
