NEW DELHI: A day after the agreement between the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, a delegation of Telangana Region Congress Coordination Committee (TRCCC) met the party president, Sonia Gandhi and demanded a special package for the region. The committee members said the region requires Rs. 21,000 crores for development and also sought assistance from the Centre to counter the naxalite problem. Meanwhile, the State Congress chief, K. Kesava Rao, hailed the agreement with the TRS and said the issue was not as to which party managed to win the round but what the parties want to do for the betterment of the people. He said leaders of both parties sat down and discussed issues since these parties were committed to develop the region. As for the possibility of the Congress-TRS joining hands once again for the municipal polls, Mr. Rao said the issue was left to local leaders. On the other hand, TRS leaders on Thursday joined issue with the Telugu Desam party and said instead of criticising the pact, they should come out with their party's stand on issues raised by TRS. The party leader, K. Vijayarama Rao, said the TDP leadership was disappointed since the prediction of the Andhra Pradesh Government falling apart did not come true.
