TIRUCHI: Copies of charge sheet in the disproportionate wealth case registered by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police were served on the former DMK Minister, B. M. Senguttuvan and his relatives. Apart from Mr. Senguttuvan, copies of the charge-sheet, running to 400 pages, were served on his daughter, Meenakshi, his son-in-law, Rajalingam, his two sons, S. Pannerselvam and S. Sakthivel, and his niece, Valli. After serving the copies, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Tiruchi, R. Kamath, posted the hearing to August 4. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption had registered the case under Sec. 13 (2) read with 13 (1) (e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The charge-sheet alleged that Mr. Senguttuvan had, between May 13, 1996 and May 14, 2001, `acquired substantial portion of his properties and pecuniary resources in his name and in the names of others'. The said term was taken as `check period' for the purpose of calculating the quantum of assets acquired by him.
