Pranahita water for Sripada Sagar by July 2006

HYDERABAD:
The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has assured the former Union Minister, B. Dattatreya, that steps would be taken for diversion of 160 tmcft of water from Pranahita to Sripada Sagar project in Karimnagar district by July 2006. This will create an additional ayacut of 12 lakhs acres.
The diversion will also augment water supply to Hyderabad and take care of its industrial needs, he said. Mr. Dattateya called on the Chief Minister on Thursday to express gratitude for issuing the GO allowing diversion of Pranahita waters.
Dr. Reddy told the BJP leader that the scheme would create additional ayacut in Adilabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Ranga Reddy districts.
