HYDERABAD: The larger Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising of five judges has said that services of an expert in statistics is necessary to assist the court while adjudicating the matter pertaining to Muslim reservations. The bench comprising of five Judges -- acting Chief Justice, Bilal Nazki, Justice G. Raghuram, Justice V.V.S. Rao, Justice N.V. Ramana and Justice R. Subhash Reddy -- on Thursday heard advocate C.V. Mohan Reddy on the issue of framing the criteria and functioning of the Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward Classes. The bench pointedly asked whether the Commission adopted "fair" procedure and correctly arrived at right conclusions based upon the figures available. The bench adjourned the matter to Monday. It may be recalled that batch of writ petitions is being adjudicated by this bench wherein the report of the Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward Classes and subsequent ordinance issued by the State Government providing for five per cent reservations for the Muslims in the field of education and public employment are being challenged.
