BANGALORE: A 28-year-old woman was found dead in a lodge in the Cottonpet Police Station limits on Thursday. The police, who found a "lungi" near the body, suspect that a man used it to strangle her to death. On Tuesday, the woman and Kumar (35), both said to be from Salem in Tamil Nadu, came to Shivalaya Lodge and booked a room. In the evening, Kumar went out to buy food. He did not return, the police quoted the lodge staff as saying. Today, a room boy who went to the couple's room for cleaning did not find any response and informed the manager who in turn took the assistance of a few men to break open the door. The body of the woman was found on the bed. "There were strangulation marks on the neck of the woman but there were no other external injuries,'' the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), M.C. Narayanagowda, told The Hindu.
Run over
K.V. Rajkumar (32), a Civil Engineer from Chikballapur, was run over by the Yeshwanthpur-Howrah express train near the Hebbal Flyover here on Wednesday. According to the Railway Police, the incident occurred when Rajkumar, unaware of the approaching train, was crossing the tracks while talking on a mobile phone. The phone was found near the body.
