Chandy to inaugurate activity centre

KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate an Activity Centre on Sunday on the main campus of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit at Kalady. The 20,000 sq.-ft. centre will include a Physical Education Department, multi-gymnasium court, badminton court, career guidance bureau and canteen. The Centre was constructed by the university at a cost of Rs.90 lakhs. — Staff Reporter

Science workshop

KOCHI : The Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad and Department of Physics at the Cochin University of Science and Technology will organise a science workshop on Sunday in connection with the 100th anniversary of the Theory of Relativity. Experts attending the seminar will discuss the contributions of Albert Einstein to the development of science. The workshop will be held at 10 a.m. at the Physics auditorium. — Staff Reporter

Results published

KOCHI: The Cochin University of Science and Technology has published the results of the B.Tech. seventh semester special supplementary examination held in May. The university has also published the results of the B.Tech third semester regular examination held in November 2004. — Staff Reporter

Air Sahara announces new fare

NEDUMBASSERY: Air Sahara has announced a five-level competitive fare structure, named `Solar fares', for its domestic sector services. The lowest fares in offer from Kochi to various sectors as per the new scheme are: Hyderabad - Rs.4,500; Delhi - Rs.6,666; Kolkata - Rs.5,925 and Amedabad - Rs.4,925

The airline operates daily services from the Nedumbassery airport to Hyderabad from where flights are operated to various domestic destinations. Though the airline continues to offer 30-day apex fares, sources said that rates under the new scheme would have a competitive edge over apex fares. — A Correspondent

Flights diverted

NEDUMBASSERY: Four flights bound for Kozhikode were diverted to the Nedumbassery airport on Thursday morning owing to inclement weather.

Flight, IC 598, from Sharjah arrived here at 7.15 a.m. and left at 8.40 a.m., while Air-India Express flight, IX 314 from Dubai came at 7.35 a.m. and left for Kozhikode after two hours. Air-India flight, AI 956, from Doha-Bahrain arrived at 8 a.m. and Indian Airlines flight, IC 922, from Dubai arrived at 8.15 a.m. and left at 9.30 a.m. and 9.25 a.m. respectively. — A Correspondent

IA hikes fare to Sharjah

NEDUMBASSERY: Indian Airlines has announced a hike in fares for its Sharjah services from the Nedumbassery airport. The increased fares will come into force with effect from August 1. From August 1 to 9, those travelling to Sharjah will have to pay Rs.9,500 while from August 10 the one-way fare will be Rs. 14,500, excluding taxes. — A Correspondent
