Water level

MADURAI: The level in the Periyar dam on Thursday stood at 118 feet with an inflow of 810 cusecs and a discharge of 600 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 30.22 feet with an inflow of 168 cusecs and a discharge of 41 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 2541 mcft. Thaniyamangalam received 45 mm of rainfall followed by Periyar dam 38, Tekkadi 31, Sittampatti 23, Melur 22, Uthamapalayam 19, Sothuparai dam 12, Kallandiri 10.6, Gudalur 10, Marudanadi 8, Manjalar dam and Pulipatti 5 each, Veerapandi 3 and Peranai 2.

Vaccination drive

The Animal Husbandry Department has launched an intensive vaccination drive against anthrax in the district. According to the Regional Joint-Director, M. Subramanian, a large number of livestock were vaccinated at Vadipatti on Tuesday. Special vaccination camps would be organised in other parts of the district. — Staff Reporter
