VIJAYAWADA: The district secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) V. Umamaheswara Rao on Thursday said that the State Government's assurance to provide houses and house sites to the poor was the result of a series of agitations taken up by party activists for the last three months. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Rao said that the Government had agreed to constitute a committee and had directed Collectors to regularise encroachments as per the G.O. No. 508 and extended the time limit for implementing it up to the March next. He demanded immediate implementation of the promises.
