Woman, paramour held for husband's murder

NEW DELHI: A woman, who had allegedly killed her husband in connivance with her paramour, has been arrested by the North-West Delhi police. The police have also arrested the paramour.

According to the police, Sunita, a Sultanpuri resident, had lodged a complaint claiming that her husband, Rajbir, had gone missing since March 17. However, investigations revealed that Rajbir had gone missing since March 1. The police also came to know that Sunita was having an affair with one Satbir. The two were questioned at length following which they allegedly confessed to having killed Rajbir.

Sunita told the police that Rajbir had objected to her affair with Satbir when he came to know about it early this year. She then planned to eliminate him and took Satbir in confidence.

On March 1, Satbir gave sleeping pills to Sunita who mixed them in Rajbir's food. When Rajbir fell asleep in the night, Satbir strangulated him. The duo then buried his body behind the tea shop owned by Sunita.

Man held for hoax call

NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old man, who had allegedly made a call on July 19 claiming that a terrorist had plans to eliminate the Prime Minister on Independence Day, has been arrested by the North-East Delhi police. He had apparently named his business rival, one Rakesh, as the "terrorist".

According to the police, the call, made around 2-30 p.m., was traced to Anand Communication, B-Block, Bhajanpura. Following investigations, the police zeroed-in on Mahesh, a resident of Usmanpur in North-East Delhi.

During interrogation, Mahesh, who owned a public phone booth, in Bhajanpura allegedly confessed to having made the call. He told the police that Rakesh, who too owned a public booth in the same locality, was earning more that him and that he wanted to bring his business down by giving his name to the police as a "terrorist".

Couple held for abduction

NEW DELHI: A man and his wife have been arrested by the North-West Delhi police for allegedly kidnapping their neighbour's kid on July 12.

According to the police, Mithilesh, a resident of Mongolpuri, had lodged a complaint on July 12 saying that her son and her neighbour, Sangeeta, had gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Following investigations, the police managed to trace the Sangeeta's native place at Gaya in Bihar. A police team went there and arrested Sangeeta and her husband, Jaggu. The child was also rescued. Sangeeta told the police that she and her husband kidnapped the child as they were issueless after 12 years of marriage.

Alleged suicide

NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house at Mongolpuri in North-West Delhi on Thursday.

According to the police, Raju, a tailor living at R-Block in Mongolpuri, was found hanging with the help of a chunni this morning. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Raju had fought with his wife, Santosh, on Wednesday night after which she, along with her three minor daughters, had gone to sleep with her mother-in-law on the first floor of the house. Raju went into a room on the ground floor and hanged himself in the night.
