Steel Ministry assures VSP of full support

Supply of raw material to be taken up with companies

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Union Steel Joint Secretary, J.P. Singh, on a three-day visit to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), on Friday appreciated its remarkable performance surpassing benchmarks set by internationally reputed steel companies.

Assuring full support and help to the VSP, he said that the Steel Ministry would see to it that the plant got the final clearance for its ambitious expansion plans.

On the issue of raw material supply for the plant, Mr. Singh said that the matter would be taken up with companies in the country and abroad.

Significant profits

VSP's Chairman and Managing Director Y. Siva Sagar Rao said that VSP had been earning significant net profit for the past three years and was in the top slot in the domestic market by virtue of its quality and output. Steel Deputy Secretary N. Vijayalakshmi also complimented the plant's outstanding performance. A multi-media presentation on "The journey of VSP to success'' highlighted the initiatives taken by the management.
