Working class told to uphold nationalism

Staff Reporter

`Communism and capitalism undergoing political and ideological crises'

HOLDING FORTH: The former CITU leader P. Keshavan Nair addressing a BMS Golden Jubilee function in Kollam on Saturday.

KOLLAM: The former district secretary of CITU P. Keshavan Nair said on Saturday that both communism and capitalism were undergoing a political, organisational and ideological crises. He was delivering the keynote address at a function organised here on Saturday to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS).

Mr. Nair, who had been pulled up by the CPI(M) for authoring two books that went against the interests of communism, said nationalism cannot be built sans patriotism. The working class should oppose all ideas that were against nationalism. Stating that he considered himself fortunate in being invited to attend the BMS function, he said the BMS was founded as a middle path between communism and capitalism. It founder-leaders wanted it to be a spiritualism and nationalism-based working class solidarity, he opined.
