HYDERABAD: Health Minister K. Rosaiah on Saturday disapproved of the action of Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Fareeduddin in making public the internal correspondence between various departments. His remarks at a press conference are significant in the light of the controversial role played by Mr. Fareeduddin in getting the minority status for Shadan Medical College in a matter of a few days. The governing body of the NTR University of Health Sciences made it clear that this status cannot made applicable for this academic year as it came three days after the counselling for admission into the MBBS course began on July 17. (There is a demand for obtaining minority status as the college management can make as much as 50 percent of the admissions on its own). Mr. Rosaiah backed the university's stand that the minority status accorded to the college would come into effect from the next academic year only. However, he said Mr. Fareeduddin had denied that he had blamed the Health department for the present controversy. He said that the Vice-Chancellor of the Health University had asked the college management to follow its directions or face action.
