MALAPPURAM: Two teenage boys were killed when their motorcycle rammed an electric post on National Highway-17 at Veliyankode near Ponnani on Sunday morning. Sufeer, 17, son of Aboobacker from Pavaratti, Ponnani, and Jabir, 14, son of Kunhimon from Ponnani, were going to visit their friend when they lost control and hit a post. Sufeer is a Plus Two student at M.I. Higher Secondary School, Ponnani. Jabir is a ninth standard student at Ansar English Medium School, Perumbilavu. Their funeral was delayed following a standoff between the police and the local people over the issue of post-mortem. The people's opposition to the police move to send the bodies to Thrissur Medical College for post-mortem sparked tension for a while. The people insisted that the post-mortem be done at the Taluk Hospital, Ponnani. The situation eased when top police officers intervened. The post-mortem was done at the Taluk Hospital, Ponnani.
