KARWAR: Heavy rain has been lashing the coastal taluks of Uttara Kannada district since Saturday. The Gundbal in Honnavar taluk is overflowing and the district administration has alerted people living in the area of a possible flood. The water level in the Sharavati, the Aghanashini, the Gangavathy, and the Venkatapura has increased. A large banyan tree was uprooted near Chendiye between Karwar and Ankola, blocking the National Highway for more than four hours. The catchments area of the Supa reservoir is also getting heavy rains. On Saturday, the water level stood at 532.15 metres, as against its full level of 564 metres.
