BELGAUM: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NBARD) has cleared assistance for minor irrigation schemes worth Rs. 13.94 crores to be taken up in the district. According to the Minister for Agriculture Marketing, Prakash B. Hukkeri, 24 works, including building barrages, repairing tanks and building tanks and percolation tanks, have been cleared. A barrage will be constructed across the Ghataprabha near Singalapura of Gokak taluk at a cost of Rs. 2 crores, a barrage across the Malaprabha at Devachihatti village of Khanapur taluk at a cost of Rs.1 crore, a barrage across the Doodhganga near Manguru village and barrages at Barawada and Kunnur villages in Chikkodi taluk at an estimated cost of Rs.1 crore each will be constructed. He said barrages will also be constructed across the Agrani near Asangi Thota at Suttatti village and across the Hire Halla near Sivanur village in Athani tlauk at a cost of Rs. 45 lakhs and Rs. 50 lakhs, respectively.
