BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the day on Monday after members paid tributes to several departed members and political leaders, including former Chief Minister and Bihar Governor, Govind Narayan Singh.
The session began with the singing of `Vande Mataram'. The Speaker, Ishwardas Rohani, read out the obituary references and adjourned the House after obeisance was paid to Mr. Singh, former Uttar Pradesh Governor, Vishnukant Shastri, former Bihar Governor, Sunder Singh Bhandari, and former MLAs -- Ramchandra Maheshwari, Gaurishankar Shastri, Parmanand Patel, Gaurishankar Shukla, Ramakant Khode, Avantika Parasad Marmat, Baijnath Prasad Saxena, K.P. Bastwar and Girija Kumari.
Among those who paid tributes were the Chief Minister Babulal Gaur, Leader of Opposition, Jamuna Devi, Samajwadi Party member Suneelam, CPI-M member, Ramlakhan Sharma and Gondwana Ganatantra Party member, Manmohan Shah Bhatti.
The members also paid tributes to those died in the Dharaji tragedy in Dewas and in the recent floods in nine districts.
The monsoon session, which is scheduled to conclude on August 10, will have a total of 13 sittings.
