Doctor commits suicide
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
A doctor committed suicide by consuming sleeping pills in his house in Basavanagudi police station limits on July 21 as he was allegedly harassed by another doctor to return Rs. 20 lakhs. The police gave the name of the person who committed suicide as Jayarama Reddy (53) of N.R. Colony, who was Assistant Professor at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences.
The police said Reddy left a note saying he was committing suicide as Rajkumar, an orthopaedist in Shankarapuram, was harassing him to return the money.
Promising to purchase a site for Dr. Rajkumar, Reddy had taken nearly Rs. 20 lakhs from him in the past 10 years, the police said. Reddy had reportedly given post-dated cheques to Dr. Rajkumar but could not arrange for the money. The two persons knew each other from 1965, the police said. The Basavanagudi police have registered a case.
