Now, coconut oil at the press of a button

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After tea and coffee being made available through vending machines, it is now the turn of coconut oil. Vending machines that provide coconut oil at the press of a button have been introduced in the State by the Kerala Kerakarshaka Sahakarna Federation (Kerafed), an apex cooperative federation under the Government of Kerala.

The vending machine has been set up on the premises of the Secretariat Association's building in Thiruvananthapuram. Consumers will be able to buy one litre and multiples of one litre of oil from the vending machine. They will also have to purchase the plastic jars.

The federation has plans to install the vending machines later in the supermarkets all over the State. The coconut oil being sold through the vending machines would be cheaper by Rs. 13 compared to those sold in pouches now, according to the federation authorities.
