The award for `Excellence in Built Environment 2004' of the Indian Buildings Congress was conferred recently on architectural firm Oscar Concessao International for its work on Hallmark Technology Park at Guindy Industrial Estate. The IT building, with two basements for car parking and 12 storeys, has been designed using post-tension technology, thereby eliminating beams and providing more space. It is an energy efficient building making "maximum use of day light" and in which green building materials have been used to reduce air-conditioning costs , according to a press release. Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development, Ghulam Nabi Azad, presented the award to Oscar Concessao and Ponni Concessao, the architect couple heading the company. S. Vijayakumar, CEO of Hallmark Foundation, the project promoter, was present. N. Ravi Kumar
