KARIMNAGAR: A physically challenged person, who lost both hands while preparing crude bombs and turned into a dossier criminal, was arrested along with his four associates by the Karimnagar Town Police on Tuesday. Disclosing this to newsmen here, Karimnagar DSP Y. Sai Narsa Reddy said that Karimnagar town CI J. Amarender Reddy and One town SI A. Mahesh and their team apprehended Challa Rayamallu alias Ramu (54), a physically challenged person, and his gang members -- P. Purushotham, (30), A. Sampath Rao, (37), U. Venu alias Srinu, (22), and M. Sampath, (28), -- all hailing from various villages of Kalwa Srirampur mandal in the district.
Arms recovered
The police recovered a country made 8 mm revolver, two catridges, a generator, a stabilizer, a computer key-board, two suitcases, one cellphone, a gold chain and a welding gas cylinder, all worth Rs. 60,000 from their possession. Two other gang members, S. Mallesham, (25), and M. Pochaiah, (25), are said to be absconding. Rayamallu, who said he had underwent jail term for about three years for various offences including dacoity. The gang made a vain bid to loot Satavahana Grameena bank under Pothkapalli police station limits last year.
