NEW DELHI: Continuing with his irrepressible form, N. Srinath defeated S. P. Sethuraman and opened up a one-point lead in the boys' under-12 category as Indians remained in hot pursuit of medals in most sections after eight rounds of the World Youth chess championship at Belfort, France, on Monday. Srinath's victory raised his tally to 7.5 points. With fellow-Indians V.A.V. Rajesh (6.5), Parimarjan Negi and Sethuraman (6) following closely, Srinath can hope to have familiar company in the medal-bracket. With three rounds to go, Sahaj Grover stayed ahead in the boys' under-10 section by a point. After winning the first seven rounds, Sahaj settled for a draw.
