COLLECTIVE DECISION: Chairman of the Assembly panel on scholarships V. Purushottam Reddy interacting with students in Nalgonda on Tuesday.
NALGONDA: Scholarships for students must be sanctioned in time lest the delay should affect their education, observed Ramannapet MLA V. Purushottam Reddy, the head of the Assembly House Committee on Scholarships. Speaking to reporters after inspecting some colleges in the town on Tuesday, he observed that BC students were not getting scholarships. "We came to know that students are given scholarships at the end of the academic year. This is not acceptable since it defeats the whole purpose,'' Mr. Reddy said.
Colleges visited
Led by Mr.Purushottam Reddy, the committee members--P.Venkat Reddy, Sambaiah, Satyanarayana, Murali Mohan and Narender Reddy were here on a two-day visit. They participated in a review meeting attended by principals, academicians and officials on Monday. The committee, which has already visited Vizag, is planning to visit East and West Godavari districts before drafting a final report.
