Patil regrets deaths

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil expressed regrets in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday about last Sunday's killing of three children by armed forces in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"We are sorry that the incident happened and three children were killed mistakenly. We would do anything to bring them to life but that is not possible. The Government will do everything possible to help the kith and kin," he said.

Earlier, the Minister advised the BJP not to create a "fear psychosis" in the country by "politicising" the issues of law and order and terrorism.

Replying to a discussion on the situation arising due to increasing incidents of cross-border terrorism and terrorist acts in the country, particularly with reference to the recent attack in Ayodhya, he said, "Charges and counter-charges do not help. Do not spare the Government and security forces if they are at fault but do not blame them by using your ingenuity in words. "
