The Health Department got a pat from President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, during his visit to the State, the office of the Health Minister has claimed. Dr. Kalam, after addressing the Legislative Assembly, was being introduced formally to the Ministers and MLAs by Speaker Therambil Ramakrishnan when he made a mention about the health sector. Kerala health is doing very well," Dr. Kalam said, as he was being introduced to Health Minister K.K. Ramachandran. The Health Department, traditional system of medicine and health tourism figure prominently in the ten suggestions that the President put forth, to take Kerala on the path of development. The department's activities in the aftermath of tsunami disaster had also come in for appreciation from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while he was visiting the refugee camp here.
