AN INSPIRING address by Tamil film director Vasanth at a cultural programme organised by the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) at St. Joseph's College in Tiruchi prompted the students to surround him soon after he stepped down from the dais. Many of the students posed queries on various topics, such as the responsibility of the visual media in protecting women's rights and fighting social evils. Students also vied with one another to get his autograph. Mr. Vasanth's thought-provoking ideas about the anti-dowry movement, personality development and leadership qualities made the students realise that he cared for the society and posterity. He also spoke about his romantic entanglement in Tiruchi a couple of decades ago. "I won't be serious all through my address. I used to spend the weekend in this city in the 80s to meet my ladylove." He went down memory lane and said that he used to spend hours with her at the ice-cream parlours in and around Main Guard Gate.
