POSTERS AND graffiti are indeed standard forms of public expression of solidarity and welcome, especially during the visits of political leaders and cinema stars. But, visitors to the first convocation of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi, were surprised when they found an academician being accorded such a welcome here last week. Quite a few posters, showing the first principal of the institution, P.S. Manisundaram, and a few others, lined Thanjavur Road which leads to the institution. The posters showed Mr. Manisundaram with a prominent industrialist and a few others. Mr. Manisundaram was quite popular here while at the helm of the college and also later as the first Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University and obviously the industrialist was keen on according him a grand reception. And what better way to do it than paint the place red with posters!
in Tiruchi.
